Wet 'N Wild

We broke out another one of Marianna's birthday presents today and got er goin'...the sprinkler! I feel like when you are kid, there is nothing better than a run through the sprinkler. It definitely brought me back to fond summertime memories. Tonight after dinner, I attached it to the hose and wanted to see how it "sprinkled". It didn't take Marianna longer than a second before she was right in the thick of it....clothes on and everything. The amount of fun she had I don't think at all compares to the enjoyment DJ and I had watching her experience the sprinkler for the first time. I hope these pictures do it justice!

Where'd it go?? ....All Done???

Drying out...

As good as it gets...

The Weekend

Marianna loves to go outside. If you ask her if she wants to go outside...you will hear her say (in her own way and what seems to sound like..) "Outside??" . Then makes a break for the closest door. She also just loves to stare out the front window...

One of Marianna's other FAVORITE things to do is to look at our wedding album. Whoever said that you will get one of these things and never open it did not have curious child like ours! We look at the wedding album MULTIPLE times per day. She loves pictures and faces. Marianna is also very good about knowing who everyone is and being able to point them out if you ask her to.

Marianna got this cool hippo that blows bubbles. I keep it on a ledge outside and it is the first thing she goes to. Thanks, Kendra!

I just thought this was a very funny series of events to capture. This is how Marianna goes down a step. She starts REALLY FAR back until she makes her way to where the step is. It can take a while, but better safe than sorry, right?

Marianna has taken after her mom (and a long line of Stanczyks) in which she is a very fast walker. It is almost a run lately. Here she sees DJ coming down the street.

"ahhh...the open road!"
Now it is back for a promised Wagon ride.

Marianna's First Birthday Party

It has taken me a while to recover physically and mentally from Marianna's first birthday party to get these pictures up. This post is going to be mainly for my records and will be a little cathartic for me as I laugh about the events leading up to Saturday.
Needless to say, we had our challenges...

The black clouds started rolling in for us Thursday night when I noticed a slight clear liquid coming out of Marianna's nose after waking from her afternoon nap. The next morning, full out runny nose, cough, watery eyes...the works! Oh, no...seriously?? The blows kept coming when the weather forecast called for 40% chance of rain on the Friday weather forecast for Saturday. C'mon! Waking up Saturday, still having a little optimism left...we turned on to hear what Humphrey had to say about the day..."give us some good news, Humphrey" we said. The forecast called for a bright, sunny, beautiful start to the day...then clouds rolling in around 3pm and a severe thunderstorm watch with strong wind and hail at around 4pm, (but no tornados...). Well, we had our tents and resigned ourselves to the fact that "whatever happens, happens". We prepared the outside with tents and shelter from the storm for our guests, but knew the party was going to be moved inside. So we have a very sick baby, and wind driven rain coming our way for the afternoon. At least we might have a well rested baby if we could get her down for a good nap, right? No such luck. For the first time EVER, Marianna skipped her 10am nap entirely! We just couldn't catch a break!

4pm comes, and party starts. The "storm" came and it wasn't so bad. Just some steady rain. Marianna ended up taking a 3.5 hour afternoon nap, although waking up pretty cranky, but it did allow us to get a lot done...thankfully, and eventually the skies cleared up and everyone was able to enjoy the outside.
I guess I learned a lesson that no matter how bad things get or what they seem, they are always bound to get better and turn out great!
Despite Marianna being sick, there were moments when she was able to enjoy playing with all the other kids....here are some shots of our family, friends and Marianna from her special day that will definately be one for the books!

Her beautiful cake decorated like the invitation came out wonderfully!

The outside looked great and there was a lot of protection from the rain...so people were able to be outside "comfortably" after all.

I was very proud of the collage I made of Marianna's first year...

Marianna's great grandpa-Joe!

The firepit was a hit well into the night!

The cake didn't go over so well...

After a little Motrin, Marianna got a little better...

The next morning, she wouldn't let go of these two balloons!

Happy Birthday, Marianna! We love you!
